Go to a good Ocean City surf shop and talk to the folks there who know the wave conditions lots better than we do. And while you are at it, think about some lessons (http://hbsnakesurf.com/). Also, don’t rush into buying anything until you have had a chance to try a couple different types of boards (rent them or borrow them from your friends who surf). Do waste you money with anything on line, and stay away from Chinese made popouts. remember, TRY before your BUY. Don’t decide one type of board looks cool, but you can’t ride it after you have paid a lot of money for it. Go to a good local shop, where they will help you get the right board for your size (weight/bouyancy ratio), skill level (beginner) and local wave conditions.
