what type of surfboard is good for the type of waves?

i just moved from the east coast to the west coast. and there are all types of waves and i want to know what kind of board do i need for MUSHY SURF, RIPPABLE SURF, HOLLOW SURF i am 170 lb. and 6 foot 3. size, type, and length would be appreciated.
