Surf Fishing South Florida?

I’m staying in Margate, Florida for two weeks and I want to try my luck at some surf fishing. Yesterday, I headed to pier, which I didn’t like at all. Everyone that I have asked always recommends some piers, but I enjoy surf fishing not pier fishing–to me it’s more relaxing and enjoyable. However, I’ve noticed that just about every beach around the area is full of people. So my question is are there any fishing spots in the area that aren’t crowded with non-fisherman. Also, are there any jetties or inlets in the area that are productive? Lastly, during this time of year what species should I be targeting? Thanks

oh wow! i used to live in margate! i’m from all around south florida, so that’s pretty cool. i moved to north florida though, now. anyways, yes, the beaches are usually always crowded around there. i’m pretty sure that if you want to do surf fishing instead of pier fishing (which is great) than you should try looking at places near coral springs, or something.

try pier fishing, it is really great.
